Honda Mobilio 2017 was revealed earlier this week at the company’s Indonesian website ahead of its global launch. Images have disclosed the cosmetic changes undergone by the car and it does look impressive. It looks like a good deal of effort has been taken by Honda to enhance the looks of Mobilio. Being a mid-cycle upgrade, this MPV does not have much to claim in terms of modifications. Yet, whatever has been done has definitely given the Mobilio a decent facelift.
To begin with, the exterior design looks strikingly appealing. On the front, a thick chrome slat covers the grille with a thin line running beneath it and ‘H’ proudly jutting out from the centre of the slat resembling the Honda City. New character lines are evident on the bonnet. The headlamps are now much leaner than it used to be and swept backwards to blend with the body. LED day time running lamps, which are now seen as a basic feature in most cars, are also incorporated with the headlamps. The all new bumper features three part angular air intakes and fog lamp enclosures which are somewhat similar to the existing Mobilio. It also gets new 15 inch alloy wheels in the facelift version. Rear features a windshield wiper and new tail lights which are not really visible in the images published.
Not much is known about the interiors of this sedan while the dashboard is said to be a BR-V inspired one. Honda Mobilio has not undergone any mechanical changes as part of this facelift. The Indonesian spec model is said to be powered by a 1.5L Petrol and 1.5L Diesel engine similar to the ongoing Indian spec Mobilio. Safety features like the Hill assist and Vehicle Stability Control are included in the new facelift version.
It is still unclear if Honda has plans to bring this All New Mobilio to Indian Market as past reports have shown sluggish acceptance for MPV segment vehicles in the country possibly due to the domination of SUVs. Probably this is why the company did not introduce the previous facelift of the same vehicle even though it was launched globally.
