Trending car news Datsun launched CVT-equipped version of its Go Hatchback and Go+ MPV from the Go series, priced at the cost of INR 5.94 lakh and INR 6.58 lakh, respectively. The starting price for both models make them the most affordable CVT in the current Indian market. CVT or Continuous Variable Transmission is comprehended to be a better system than the traditional automatic gearbox as it has improved fuel efficiency and smoother rides. The two models are offered in two trims – T and T(O) with the CVT option.

The Go and Go+ CVT trims are both supported by the same 1.2L, three-cylinder petrol engine that does duty in their existing manual counterparts. However, the CVT features an upgraded version of the engine and now pumps out a higher 77hp of the power as compared to the 68HP in the manual. At 104Nm, the engine torque output still remains unchanged.

The bookings for the CVT units had opened last month for a token amount of Rs.11,000 at all Datsun and Nissan dealers across the country. T(O) variant of Datsun Go and Go+ gets features that include 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system compatible with Android Auto and Apple Car Play, manual air conditioning, LED DRLs, rear wiper, 14-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, electrically adjustable ORVMs.

As for the safety features, they get Vehicle Dynamic Control, which is a segment-first along with mandatory features like dual airbags, ABS with EBD, seat belt reminder, brake assist, and rear parking sensors. The CVT variants of these two models are being offered in six colours. Datsun offers standard two year warranty package on both the Go and Go Plus CVT, that can further extended upto five years for a very small amount.
