Trending bike news Bajaj Auto is now ready to launch its first electric scooter, which may be called by the name of e-Chetak or Chetak Chic Electric, on the 16th of October at a special event named ‘Hamara Kal’. The new e-scooter which will be a part of Bajaj's new sub-brand Urbanite will take on Ather 450.

The e-scooter was spotted testing on the streets of Pune. It sports a retro design, kind of similar to larger Vespas available abroad. Bajaj might even try to revive the Chetak label on the new e-scooter.

Spy images of the upcoming e-scooter suggest that it will sport a neo-retro design reminiscent of the large capacity Vespas from the international market. Just like the original Chetak, this e-scooter, too, will have a single-sided front fork for suspension. Not many details have been revealed through any sources, but we can hope to see a premium electric scooter which can possibly challenge all other models from the same segment.

The e-scooter is expected to come with premium features like LED lighting all-round, Bluetooth connectivity, and various Artificial Intelligence features. When people saw the e-scooter on the streets of Pune, it was being tested alongside Ather 450, e-Chetak's main rival to be understood.

We can expect the new e-scooter to be priced around Rs.1 lakh as Bajaj will look to undercut Ather Energy’s popular e-scooter by a significant margin.

Trending bike news The Turn-by-turn navigation helps the rider to navigate without having to look at the mobile phone every now and then. The Call/SMS alert notifies the caller ID on the console. The crash alert system notifies the emergency contact about the accident which aids for timely hospitalization.

These features were introduced by TVS in their TVS Ntorq 125 which became India’s first Bluetooth connected scooter. The company also went on to launch an updated version of the powerful scooter recently, named TVS Ntorq Race Edition.

The engine incorporates TVSM patented Oil-Cooled Combustion Chamber (O3C) technology which reduces the engine heat map by 10 degree Celsius. The 197.75cc engine produces 15.09kW output at 8500 rpm and 18.01Nm torque at 7000rpm.

The Anti-Reverse Torque (A-RT) slipper clutch provides quicker upshifts and precise gear shifts for the 5-speed gearbox. Pirelli race-spec tires are provided as an option.

The Roto-petal disc brakes provided in the front and rear account for the aggressive stopping power and quicker heat dissipation. The dual-channel ABS with Rear wheel Lift-off Protection (RLP) control.

The above-mentioned features make the new TVS Apache RTR 200 4v a tough competitor for its rivals such as Bajaj Pulsar NS 200, Yamaha FZ25, Yamaha MT15, Hero Xtreme 200.
