Mercedes Benz will be making a global debut of its entry-level electric vehicle, concept named EQA in 2020. The fully electric crossover EQA was teased for the first time during the premiere of the second-generation GLA.
At the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show, the company first unveiled the EQA concept in the form of a three-door car. Apparently, the model was a hatchback based on the A-Class. The latest revelation says it will be a five-door crossover based on the new generation GLA. The EQA concept is based on the Modular Electric Architecture (MEA) platform, developed exclusively for the company's upcoming EV range. It measures 4284mm in length, 1811mm in width and 1427mm in height along with a wheelbase of 2728mm.
Not much details of EQA has been disclosed yet by the company. The concept prototype was powered by two electric motors that churn out a combined power output of 268 bhp and 500 Nm of peak torque. It is equipped with a 60kw flat battery pack that guarantees a range of up to 400 km in a single charge. Mercedes has developed wireless inductive charging feature on this battery. Two driving modes named Sport and Sport+ are offered on the EQA.
Mercedes EQA concept is expected to launch its production model after the plugin hybrid version of GLA as well as A-Class. Mercedes will most likely showcase the EQA at the upcoming 2020 Auto Expo in Delhi next month.
