Hyundai teams up with Chandigarh Polytechnic College

News - Hyundai teams up with Chandigarh Polytechnic College

Indian Automobile industry has been on a whirlwind journey since time immemorial with plenty of career opportunities for the vibrant youth, as a result of the demographic situation that prevails in the country. But the disappointing fact here was that neither could any of the auto companies employ qualified service personnel (due to lack of availability), nor the institutes who produced these technicians equip themselves with better facilities or curriculum.

Good news is that the situation has changed atlast. Thanks to the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship for the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal VikasYojana (PMKVY).

This Skill India Mission serves to qualify the aspiring individuals across India before they enter the Automobile Market. Most of the service stations have not been able to employ well qualified service technicians due to the non-availability in the current scenario. HUNDAI had launched a skill programme by associating with 25 ITIs across the nation in 2012 and successfully placed 95% graduates from this programme across various Hyundai dealerships in the country. The company’s decision to contribute towards the Skill India Programme launched by the Indian Government has encouraged them to further strengthen the ties with ITIs and Polytechnic institutes in India.

As a first step, Hyundai Motor India inaugurated their Professional Development Centre at Chandigarh Polytechnic College, Mohali earlier this week. The company announced in a statement that they wished to extend their support to the community by enhancing the education standards in line with modern technologies through teaming up with polytechnic colleges with a specially designed curriculum, training equipment, car, engine, gearbox and other aids for learning. Hyundai Motor India Ltd. (HMIL), India’s second largest car maker has taken this initiative as a part of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to fulfill social objectives within the country.

Though this programme, the Automobile trade students will be exposed to latest automobile technologies which will open before them a whole new world of opportunities in employment and career. The Polytechnic institutes will be equally benefitted as it helps them in producing skillful professionals for the Indian Automobile Industry. Another exciting feature to this programme is that the new syllabus also includes practical training at their dealerships.

As per sources,Mr. RakeshSrivastava, Sr. VP-Sales and Marketing, Hyundai Motor India Ltd. said “we wish to contribute towards a marked increase in the availability of skilled manpower in the automobile service industry. We are committed to provide the best to students, which will eventually benefit the industry and society on the whole.”

Even though an SUV Vitara was launched into the market long back, its heavy pricing and lack of a diesel variant kept it away from us Indians who had a general notion of opting any other brand instead of Maruti while planning for an expensive vehicle. But as they introduced the launch of a premium sedan Ciaz and a lifestyle hatchback Baleno retailed through its lifestyle showroom Nexa, the whole approach of people towards Maruti Suzuki changed. People came forward to buy expensive vehicles from the same brand they had ignored a couple of years ago.
