India welcomes Tata Tigor, the sub four meter sedan from Tata Motors. This car has been officially termed as a Styleback, resembling a notchback design with the extended boot space that hatchbacks usually don’t offer. With its launch around a price range of Rs.4.5 lakh- 6 lakh, the Tata Tigor will be the most affordable car in India from the subcompact segment. Even though it is developed on the brand’s Impact Design Philosophy and based on the Tiago hatchback, the presence of an extended boot space and few notable added features and options keep it unique from every other sub compact cars seen in the country.
The front fascia of Tata Tigor is adorned with a dual coloured bumper, newly designed honey mesh grille, chrome humanity line that extends to new smoked projector headlamps on both ends. Split LED tail lamps with integrated stop lamps that is mounted high and the character lines present throughout the vehicle accentuates the sporty vigour and the length of this subcompact car. 15-inch alloy wheels are given on the Petrol trim while the Diesel gets 14-inch ones.
The cabin looks very much similar to its hatchback sibling Tiago, but usage of premium elements are evident. The exterior colour inserts present a dual tone finish to the interiors that is more spacious and enriched with fabric upholstery, Harman 8-inch touch screen infotainment system with Mirror Link, plenty of utility spaces, climate control AC vents and many more features. The touch screen also gets navigation with integrated reverse camera.
Tata Tigor is powered by the same engine seen on the Tiago. The Revotorq 1.05L three cylinder Diesel engine produces 70bhp and 140Nm of peak torque while the Revotron 1.2L three cylinder Petrol engine delivers 85bhp and 114Nm of peak torque. Both engines are coupled to 5-speed manual transmission while there is news that the launch of an Automatic variant may also be expected. Fuel tank capacity is 35 litres while fuel efficiency figures of Diesel engine are expected to be around 25kmpl.
Tata Tigor comes with dual front safety airbags, energy absorbing body structure, ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) with EBD (Electronic Brakeforce Distribution) and Corner Stability Control for improved braking efficiency. The Tata Tigor also gets Electric Power Steering which helps in easy drive.
