German Carmaker Volkswagen launched its international best seller SUV, Tiguan in India at a starting price of Rs.27.68 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai). Tiguan is the second SUV to reach India after Touareg which was discontinued due to low sales volumes. However, it also comes with a lower price tag compared to the phased out model and competes against the likes of Toyota Fortuner New, Skoda Kodiaq, Isuzu MU-X and Ford Endeavour.
Volkswagen introduces 4MOTION intelligent all-wheel drive system through this robust SUV which is also built on the popular MQB platform. Ever since VW started production of Tiguan in March 2017, SUV enthusiasts have been anticipating this model’s entry. Unlike other models, Tiguan is available only in two variants named Comfortline and Highline while the base variant goes for a miss. Comfortline is priced at Rs.27.68 lakh while the Highline is priced at Rs.31.04 lakh (both ex-showroom prices, Mumbai).
Both variants come loaded with a host of features that appeals to the premium SUV lovers in all aspects. On its exteriors features like the dual toned bumpers enhanced with chrome strips, automatic LED headlamps with DRLs, LED tail lamps, Outside rear view mirrors with memory, 18’’ alloy wheels and panoramic sunroof add grandeur. Interiors display extravagance with a large touch screen infotainment system that connects to Apple Carplay and Android Auto on smartphone for navigation as well as other functions. Few other feature highlights include three zone AC system, electrically adjustable driver seat, heated front seats, push button start function, drive mode selector, paddle shifters, reverse camera, LED illumination on the sunroof, cabin and also on the scuff plates.
In terms of Safety, Tiguan offers six airbags, ABS (Anti-lock Braking system) with EBD (Electronic Brake force Distribution), Hill Assist, rain sensing wipers, cruise control and so on. Both variants are powered by a 2L four-cylinder TDI Diesel engine mated to a 7-speed DSG automatic transmission that produces 141bhp worth power and 340Nm of peak torque. Fuel tank capacity is 71 litres while VW claims a fuel efficiency of 17kmpl for Tiguan. This premium SUV is available in a range of colours as Silver, Black, White, Blue and Grey.
Indian Automobile Industry under SIAM proposes to the government to have only two GST rates for passenger vehicles instead of multiple ones. The SIAM (Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers) recently highlighted this request amongst few suggestions they were planning to present in the upcoming Union Budget 2018-19.
Volvo launched their premium SUV, XC60 in a new avatar at a price of Rs.55.90 lakh. The second generation model appears in only one variant named Inscription and is based on the company’s in-house developed SPA platform.

Honda WR-V (Winsome Runabout Vehicle), the sub compact crossover was unveiled at the 2016 Sao Paulo Motor Show in Brazil. Now, Honda is about to launch the same here in the country on March 16th, 2017. As WR-V rolls here, India will earn the name for being the first country to produce and launch it in the world. Previously named as the Jazz Twist, this crossover is based on the company’s best seller Honda Jazz but is slightly longer and taller than the latter.
