Nissan Micra 2017 has been launched in the country with cosmetic upgrades while the mechanicals remain the same. Despite the fact that this model isn’t the Gen5 one that was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show, the new 2017 Micra does have a few tweaks to show off on its exteriors as well as the interiors. The updated hatchback that comes in both petrol and diesel trims is available at prices ranging from Rs.5.99 lakh to Rs.7.23 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
The New Micra 2017 gets updated features on the existing model while retaining attributes of the yester year version. Follow me headlamps are a new addition worth mentioning; this feature turns on the headlamps for few minutes after you get out of the car and lock it, so as to guide you the way through the darkness. Other revisions on the exterior profile include the LED daytime running lamps, new and sportier looking front and rear bumpers and newly designed tail lamps.
The interiors receive an all-black dashboard with piano black finish along with orange accents to get that premium appeal. The new touch screen infotainment system, multifunctional steering wheel, Bluetooth telephony etc. are other notable features in the cabin. Safety features offered include airbags, rain-sensing wipers, automatic headlamps, reverse parking camera, engine immobilizer, ABS with EBD and many more according to different variants.
The new Micra gets its power from the same engines as the existing model. The 1.2L three-cylinder Petrol engine produces 75bhp with 104Nm of peak torque whereas the 1.5L Diesel engine produces 62bhp and 160Nm of peak torque. Both the trims are coupled to 5-speed manual transmission while the petrol trim alone gets an additional CTV X-tronic Automatic variant. Fuel efficiency figures are expected to be 19.34kmpl on petrol variants and 23.08kmpl on diesel variants as per company claims.
New 2017 Nissan Micra will compete against the likes of Maruti Suzuki Swift, Tata Tiago ,Volkswagen Polo and many others from the same hot hatch segment.
