Bookings open for Mahindra Alturas G4 SUV

trending Mahindra has commenced to accept bookings for their new SUV Alturas that is slated for launch on November 25. This premium model is the brand’s version of Ssangyong Rexton G4 and will be positioned just above the best seller XUV 500. New Alturas G4 will be launched only in an automatic transmission variant for which bookings has already begun at a token amount of Rs.50,000 at all company dealerships across India.

Mahindra Alturas G4 will be available in two variants with front wheel drive and all-wheel drive options. Both variants will be equipped with a 2.2L turbo diesel engine that makes 181bhp and a peak torque of 450Nm. These engines bound to a seven speed automatic transmission unit borrowed from Mercedes, will be available on lower spec 2WD variant and a top spec 4WD variant.

Alturas G4 will be offered in four colours namely New Pearl White, Napoli Black, Dsat Silver and Lakeside Brown across both options. This premium SUV will feature large touchscreen infotainment system, Napa leather upholstery, electronic parking brake and many more striking features to compete with Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour, Volkswagen Tiguan and other SUVs from the Rs.25 lakh plus range retailing in the Indian Market.

New Maruti Suzuki Ertiga bookings open

trending Maruti Suzuki India has officially opened bookings for their soon-to-be launched MPV, 2018 Ertiga. The next gen Ertiga is expected to be launched in the country on 21st November 2018.

The new Ertiga will be offered in both petrol and diesel trims. The petrol trim will get the new K15 1.5-litre petrol engine which powers the Ciaz and generates 105bhp and 138Nm torque. The petrol version will get the SHVS mild hybrid technology as well. The diesel version on the other hand, will be powered by a 1.3-litre DDiS 200 diesel which makes 90bhp and 200Nm of torque.

The new Ertiga is much bigger than the previous model in terms of length and wheelbase which makes the car feel more spacious. It gets a touchscreen navigation infotainment system that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Other notable elements include 16 inch alloy wheels, LED daytime running lights and LED projector headlamps.

The second generation Ertiga will be available in four petrol variants and four diesel variants along with five color options such as Pearl Metallic Auburn Red, Metallic Magma Grey, Pearl Metallic Oxford Blue, Pearl Arctic White and Metallic Silky Silver.

The new Ertiga is now available for booking only at the Maruti Suzuki Arena dealerships and the booking amount for the all new Ertiga is Rs.11000. More details on the features and specifications will be updated upon launch of this vehicle.

October 2018 Car sales in India reports flat to positive growth

trending Auto Industry in India reported marginal to positive car sales in the month of October 2018. The automobile market that had faced serious setback due to monsoons during the festival season and other economic conditions is now slowly starting to recover and hence the sales were reported to be only marginally improving than the previous months.

Maruti Suzuki, India’s favourite carmaker registered a sales growth of only 1.5% with 1,38,100 units sold in the domestic market. Exports dropped by 17% on the other hand with only 8,666 units in October 2018 compared to same month last year. Baleno, Dzire, Celerio and Swift contributed to this growth in sales while the big vehicles like S-Cross, Vitara and Ertiga contributed poorly this time.

Hyundai India, the next popular car maker in the country registered highest ever sales in terms of numbers. There was a rise of 4.9% in their domestic market sales. Both domestic and exports recorded 65,020 units with exports up by 3.7% compared to October 2017. Their recently launched New Santro alone recorded sales of 8,500 units in few days’ time.

Ford India reported an increase of 30% sales with cumulative sales of 21,346 units as against 15,033 units (YoY). Domestic sales were up by 53% and exports by 12% altogether making it a good time for the brand that also launched the Aspire Facelift in October 2018.

Toyota India recorded decline of 5% in cumulative sales while the domestic markets had grown marginally by 2% and exports market being the worst hit at a drop of 60%. Their total sales were reported to be 13,245 units of which only 639 units went for exports.

Mahindra & Mahindra registered sales growth by 14% in October with 58,416 units sold in total. Domestic sales witnessed a rise of 13% of which passenger vehicles were up by 13% and commercial vehicles by 26%.

Honda Cars India reported 14,233 units as against 14,234 sold in October 2017. Tata Motors recorded an increase of 11% in the passenger vehicle segment, while commercial vehicle segment went up by 22%. Their cumulative sales numbers stood at 57,710 units in October 2018 compared to 48,886 units in the same month last year.

Auto Industry records flat to positive growth in October two wheeler sales

trending Indian Automobile Market reported marginal sales growth in the month of October 2018, both in two wheelers and four wheelers segment. Let us take a look at the two wheeler brands who managed to gain positive sales figures last month, in spite of the market being unfavourable with high fuel prices and increase in prices.

In the two wheeler segment, Honda Motorcycles and Scooters Limited (HMSI) recorded 12% growth, crossing a 5 lakh milestone in the sales numbers. To be accurate, the numbers were 5,21,159 units as against 4,66,592 units sold in October 2017. Out of this, 3,22,108 units were contributed by the scooter segment. A major contribution was from Honda’s best-selling ever model Activa that also recently became the first scooter to have crossed the two crore milestone. Another performer, Honda Grazia crossed two lakhs sales last month. While on the motorcycle segment, Honda CB Shine crossed 70 lakhs sales in October. Exports too shot by 7% for HMSI altogether making it a successful month for the brand.

Hero MotoCorp registered 16.4% growth by selling 7,34,667 units against 6,31,105 units sold in the same month last year. The brand also recorded sales of over seven lakh units as in September where they managed to make a record sales of 7,69,138 units.

TVS Motors reported domestic sales figures up by 25%, while their exports up by 27% (Year over Year). Two wheeler sales figures were reported to be 3,38,988 units in the month of October of which 1,50,429 units were from the motorcycle segment and 1,51,040 units were from the scooter segment.

Royal Enfield registered flat sales at 2.98% growth with 70,044 units compared to last year October.

Suzuki Motorcycles India reported a growth of 34% with 61,768 units sold in October 2018. The major contributors were Suzuki Access 125 and the new Suzuki Burgman Street 125.

Tata Motors officially unveils production ready SUV Harrier

trending The much awaited Tata H5x concept vehicle Harrier was revealed in its production spec form by the company. This form maintains design close to the prototype, though few styling elements appear toned down, delivering a more stunning look than the H5x.

Tata Harrier expected to be launched in January 2019, was built at its all new world class production line that was developed based on best practices adopted from Jaguar Land Rover, all of this in a record time duration of 6 months. The new assembly line seems to be working on 90% automated functions with more than 100 robots. Hence, deliveries too may begin along with the launch of this SUV.

Tata Harrier becomes the first model designed with the Humanity Line, on the company’s new Impact Design 2.0 philosophy. The SUV is built on the Optimal Modular Efficient Global Advanced Architecture (OMEGA-ARC) that has been borrowed from the Land Rover’s D8 Architecture.

Harrier SUV as evident on the front exterior images, has an aggressive grille, projector headlamps with LED day time running lamps, silver skid plates and chunky black bumpers just under the circular fog lamps encased in the headlamp cluster. This robust looking SUV also boasts of huge ground clearance compared to its competitors. Unlike the 21 inch alloy wheels on the H5x, this production spec model will feature 17/18 inch alloy wheels.

Tata Harrier will be powered by an all-new 2L KRYOTEC four cylinder BS-VI engine that makes 140bhp and paired to six speed manual gearbox and automatic gearbox options. Bookings for Tata Harrier have begun already at the company dealerships. Price of Tata Harrier is expected to be ranging between Rs.15 lakh and Rs.20 lakh.
