With the safety norms having turned stringent, most car makers retailing in India have been updating their existing models with mandatory safety features prescribed by the government. Renault
has launched its best-selling small car Kwid
in India with updated safety features that include pedestrian safety, ABS with EBD (Anti-Lock Braking System with Electronic Brake Force Distribution), front passengers seat belt reminder, air bags, and speed alert.
New Kwid is priced at Rs.2.67 lakh for the base variant while the top end variant is priced at Rs.4.63 lakh (Both Ex-Showroom Prices). Kwid that had received a mild update few months ago is now updated again to comply with the safety norms that will be implemented in the country soon. Hence, mechanical changes are not seen as part of this revision.
2019 Kwid will continue with the same 0.8L and 1.0L petrol engines in manual and automatic options as before. However, the new version is being offered with a 17.64cm capacitive touch screen media and navigation unit that is also compatible with Android Auto and Apple Carplay. It also gets a push to talk feature on this unit.
What is surprising here is the price tag that continues to remain the same as outgoing version despite all these updates. It looks like Renault Kwid will remain as the successful model from this French carmaker in the coming year too.
