As part of the precautionary global recall campaign to replace the faulty front air bags inflators sourced from Takata, Honda India
has announced a recall for Honda Accord
in the country. The recall includes 3669 units of Accord manufactured in the period from 2003 to 2006.
The replacement job will be carried out at Honda dealerships across India, from 18th April 2019. Honda Cars India will reach out each and every customer in this regards and this replacement will be done at free of cost by the company.
Accord owners can check their car’s status for the same, either by submitting their 17 character alphanumeric Vehicle Identification Number on the micro site hosted on brand website or by contacting any authorized dealership.
Honda Cars India Limited urges all Accord owners (within the period) to get their vehicles repaired as soon as possible. They also warned that the airbag inflator casing might rupture resulting in injury or safety risk to the passengers.
This is not the first time Honda is announcing a recall. In 2018 Honda has recalled total 30124 units of its vehicles. In January 2018, it has done a recall of Accord, City and Jazz owing to faulty airbags. In its second recall, the company had taken back 7290 units of Amaze for EPS preventive inspection.
The first generation Accord was a success for Honda in India, while the Hybrid version of Accord failed to make at least one sale in India in 2018.
