We had earlier mentioned that Morris garage, which is basically a British automaker, but now owned by SAIC, China will be making an entry into the Indian market pretty soon. Their production plant acquired from GM Motors at Halol, Gujarat is capable of producing 80,000 cars a year.
The company is working on the launch of the internationally available Baojun 530 with minor tweaks for India. It has been spotted testing extensively here in the country highways. Speaking of Baojun 530
, it is a full sized SUV. However, due to localization, the prices may be aggressive and in the likes of Jeep Compass and Tata Harrier.
The new upcoming SUV Baojun 530 will sport an MG signature grille upfront with twin-pod headlamps and LED daytime running lights. This new debut model from MG will feature an aggressive body language with massive air-intakes, bold character lines and one-piece tail-lamps.
Dimensions will be 4,655mm in length, 1,835mm in width and 1,760mm in height with a 2,750 mm wheelbase.
In India, MG Baojun 530 will be powered by Fiat’s 2.0L diesel engine that also powers the Jeep Compass. This engine produces 173PS of power and 353Nm. In China, the model is powered by 1.5L petrol engine and we may also expect the same engine for the petrol trim in India.
Not much details have been revealed and price of Indian spec MG Baojun 530 are expected to be from 14 lakh.
