planning to bring a 799cc motorcycle to India had captured the headlines for quite some time. Since then, bike enthusiasts all over have been waiting for any news update regarding its launch. Finally, after much anticipation, some dealers have confirmed about the launch of this model soon as they have already started to accept bookings for the same, albeit unofficially. Bookings are being accepted at various KTM dealerships across the country at token amount of around Rs.20,000.
New KTM Duke 790 will be the flagship model of the brand and is expected to be priced around Rs.8 lakh range. The bike will reach Indian shores via CKD route and assembled at the company’s Chakan facility. Duke 790 is powered by a 799cc parallel twin engine with a 315 deg firing angle. This special feature enables the motorcycle to deliver strong low end and mid-range torque. This engine is capable of producing 103bhp worth power and 86Nm of peak torque, mated to a six speed gearbox with slip assist clutch.
Upon launch, New KTM Duke 790 will compete against Triumph Street Triple S
, Kawasaki Z900
, Suzuki GSX-S750
and other motorcycles from the same displacement.
