MG Motor India
, subsidiary wing of SAIC Motor Corp in China, recently announced that they are planning to launch their all-electric SUV in India in a phased manner. To begin with, the brand will bring in their debut model in India, Hector
SUV that is expected to be launched by June this year. The fully electric SUV will be launched too by December 2019, but will go on sale only in few select cities initially.
Hector and the fully electric SUV will feature OTA (Over the Air) Technology in the country for the very first time. This technology will allow the vehicle to auto update its operating system for refreshed content that also includes entertainment aspects. OTA has been featured on Tesla models in the international market but this will be the first time it is being introduced on Indian spec models and MG Motors takes the credit for this.
As we have read already, MG Motors India had already announced their plans to launch one model every year in the country from 2019 onwards. India being a potential automobile market, we need not be surprised if more brands join the electric revolution in the country.
Apparently, the upcoming fully electric SUV from MG will run for 250kms in one full charge while Hector compact SUV will feature the largest panoramic glass sunroof than any other model that is being sold in the country. With segment first features, these two models are sure to raise many more eyebrows upon launch.
