Skoda is all set to showcase their compact SUV Kamiq at the Geneva motor show next month. Ahead of this global unveil, Kamiq that draws attention as the upcoming rival for Creta and Harrier was spotted testing for the first time.
Skoda named it as Kamiq, in line with the tradition of naming their SUV's starting with "K" and ending at "Q" as in the case of Kodiaq. This small SUV is designed based on the Vision X concept. From the testing mule, few features have been revealed now.
New Skoda Kamiq has a sporty front bumper with distinctive headlights. Side profile gets sports alloy wheels, large windows and rear split LEDs like in the case of Harrier. The dimensions of the car measure 4390mm long, 1,781mm wide and 1,593mm tall. The car is built on the MQB-AO-IN platform that has helped the price appear highly competitive. In India, the same model will be powered by the Rapid's 1.6L engine which will be updated to a BS-VI engine.
Skoda Kamiq will be featured with class first features like a virtual cockpit and heated steering wheels but no source has confirmed it. All the luxury features on cars from this segment have turned standard now and will be available in this model.
The prices for this model too will compete with Hyundai Creta and Tata Harrier. New Kamiq is expected to be priced between Rs.15 lakh to Rs.18 lakh (Ex-showroom).
