German Automaker Volkswagen
will launch their compact SUV T-Roc in India by the end of this year. The T-Roc is already being sold in the European markets in competition with MINI Countryman
and Honda HR-V there. Here this model is expected to compete with Jeep Compass
and Hyundai Creta
The company is planning to strictly follow safety and emission norms in the country. As we all know, the brand had already announced about their decision to stop producing diesel engine models and concentrate more on petrol or electric models. T-Roc is offered in three turbo charged petrol engine options in Europe. So India too can expect a turbo charged direct injected petrol engine along with the Indian spec model.
The dimensions of T-Roc are length at 4,229mm, Width at 1831mm and Height at 1501mm. The wheelbase is 2596mm. This clearly indicates that this model will be smaller than the best selling compact SUV in the Indian markets, Hyundai Creta. The expected price range of this upcoming vehicle ranges from Rs.17 lakh to Rs.20 lakh, whereas Jeep Compass from the same segment is available at Rs.15.45 lakh in India. So this model cannot be expected to bring sales volume to Volkswagen in India, but can act as a brand builder here.
Reports indicate that T-Roc may come to India under the Indian Govt scheme which allows the car maker to import 2500 units without local homologation.
