Last month, Suzuki unveiled Swift Sport Katana edition in the Netherlands. This special edition is considered as a tribute to the yester year Suzuki Katana motorcycle that was once a star in the international market during the 1980s.
It is quite sure that India won’t get this model. Apparently, Suzuki
will make only 30 units of this special edition out of which half will be in Super Black Pearl shade and remaining half in Premium Super Metallic. The presence of this special edition variant is restricted to the Dutch market at 28,999 euros, which is nearly Rs.22.67 lakh.
The Suzuki Swift Sport Katana edition gets exclusive interiors and exteriors and will be the most expensive and exclusive variant of the Swift hatchback.
The Suzuki Katana
motorcycle was a very famous model in the international market. This model made its debut in 1981and stopped production in 2006. However, it is now back in the 2019 avatar with a 999cc engine. The new Swift Sport Katana edition will promote both the car and the motorcycle together.
The car features the same metallic paint scheme as of the motorcycle Katana and also gets red accents on the grille surrounds with black racing stripes on the bonnet. The graphics and blacked out alloy wheels enhance the style of its side profile. It also exhibits the “Katana” label on the front doors of the hatchback.
Inside the cabin, the steering wheel and seats carry Katana badges while the seat covers also exhibit the serial number between 1 to 30 giving it a unique limited edition feel. Katana also features touchscreen infotainment system with navigation and reverse parking camera.
In terms of safety , this new model gets features such as brake assist, ABS with EBD, front and side airbags, and tyre pressure monitoring system.
As mentioned earlier, Suzuki does not have any plans to bring Katana to Indian market at this point. Yet like all times, we hope maybe this stylish hatchback will make its debut in India in the coming future, taking into account the fact that this country is a an ever growing and promising market for all car makers.
