Tata upcoming small car in the making

KeralaOnRoad | Mar 21, 2019
Tata's upcoming small car news, India launch updates, Features TATA has been regaining its position in India mostly in every segment with the advent of Tiago, Tigor, Nexon and their recently launched SUV Harrier. The Indian Carmaker has developed enough potential to enter into an even more mass market. In the market, Maruti Suzuki Alto has been the No.1 car considering sales, which was last year overtaken by Dzire. Even though Tata had some bitter experience in the small car segment with Nano, things have started to change now and it looks like Tata is getting ready for once now to make a re-entry into this segment as well.

Positioned below the Tiago, the upcoming small car from Tata will be based on ALFA (Agile Light Flexible Advanced) platform that is currently being used for Altroz and H2X concept. ALFA is a highly scalable platform that can be utilized for developing new models in the shortest possible time. This platform seems to have a lot of capability and can be used to develop e-cars in the future as well for Tata. It is suspected that the next gen Tiago and Tigor too maybe based on this platform.

Maruti and Tata have been best known for cars with affordable prices in India and as a matter of fact, these brands do not really have any direct competitors against each other. Our question is, when Tata launches its new car, will it be able to take over the Alto which is already undergoing a major update? Well we need to wait and see.
