Honda CB Unicorn 160

All New Honda CB Unicorn 160 was launched in the country without much buzz, pushing aside all rumours of discontinuation of the existing Unicorn 150 that had been doing rounds for quite some time now. The updated version CB Unicorn 160 comes with an upgraded BS-IV emission norms compliant engine. As we all know, BS-IV emission norms will be strictly applicable from April 2017 onwards. Hence, this upgraded engine will be a striking feature to attract customers for the new CB Unicorn 160.

The legendary commuter vehicle, who has won many hearts in the previous years, gets additional features this time like the Automatic Headlamp On, which is likely to be yet another upcoming mandatory feature for safety on all two wheelers in the country. This feature turns the headlamp on automatically, thereby enabling the rider to have a peaceful ride. Compared to its predecessor, the new model is taller by 2mm and gets a new windshield visor.

Not much has changed under its hood. The Honda CB Unicorn 160 is fitted with the same 162.71cc single cylinder air cooled engine. The power seems to have gone down from 14.5bhp to 13.8bhp (@8000rpm) and 14.6Nm to 13.9Nm (@6000rpm) due to the emission standards maintained. The four stroke engine is coupled to the same 5-speed gearbox, with telescopic front forks and monoshock suspension at its rear, while braking duties are handled by twin disc brakes with Combi Braking System. The top speed has been noted as 106kmph. Apparently, previous generation Unicorn 150 was the first bike in India to get monoshock suspension at the rear.

Honda CB Unicorn 160 is first among the list of other vehicles from Honda Motorcycles and Scooters Ltd to be upgraded to BS-IV emission norms. Since its launch in 2014, the previous generation CB Unicorn 150 had been one of the best-selling commuter vehicles. Yet the sales figures came to a downfall as the competition got tougher within the segment and HMSL failed to keep their best seller updated. But now, Honda has managed to make some intelligent changes giving the All New Honda CB Unicorn 160 a striking appeal introducing graphic designs on the red and white shade ones. A new shade of Metallic Blue has been introduced as well with a matte finish.

Prices of two variants are:

Honda CB Unicorn 160 STD- Rs. 78087 (ex-showroom Kochi)

Honda CB Unicorn 160 CBS - Rs. 80584 (ex-showroom Kochi)
