The BMW G 310 R is undoubtedly one of the most awaited motorcycles in the country ever since its debut in EICMA 2015. From trusted sources, it is believed that the G 310 R is expected to be launched in India anytime in July 2018.
The new unit from BMW has been carefully engineered by the company itself in Munich. However, the production of the G 310 R will take place at TVS motor’s facility in Bangalore.
If you look closely, you may find that the new G 310 R follows the same BMW design language that is seen in the S 1000R. The bike, although launched in the 300cc segment does not fall behind in terms of look. It has all the traits of a typical BMW bike that you’d see on the road. From the front, the golden finished upside down forks gather all the attention followed by the V-shape headlight.
The design is done in a manner that it shows all the aggression expected of a bike. Other distinctive features include a massive exhaust which is unlikely to be seen in any other 300cc bikes in the segment. Tank extensions and well sculpted tanks are other features that pop up in the design section of the bike.
The BMW G310 R is features a 313cc single-cylinder liquid cooled engine capable of churning out 34PS of power and 28Nm torque. One noticeable change that BMW has brought in this engine is the twisting of cylinder head by 180 degrees which in turn will allow a straight path for the air-fuel mixture. The change has been brought in to maximize the fuel burning efficiency. This affects the centre of gravity of bikes in a very positive manner giving enough confidence on the corners.
Another great initiative from BMW is the shipment of high quality machines from Germany to manufacture the bikes and to maintain quality service of the same in India, for which BMW has been spending a lot of time in setting up the facility in Bangalore.
The Price of the G 310R is yet to confirmed but we expect the bike to be priced at Rs 2,50,000 in India. It is also noted that TVS motors will also be coming up with a similar engine bike very soon.
The partnership of BMW-TVS gives so much expectation to the auto enthusiasts in the country. We just hope that this partnership succeeds in bringing the same quality bikes that they individually make. For more details, we have to wait until the bike is launched!
