BMW has launched the exclusive Superbike HP4 Race in India at Rs 85.00 lakh. The HP4 Race made its Global debut last year as a limited edition motorcycle with just 750 units available worldwide. No information is available now on how many units are on sale in India.
The German manufacturer has made this non road legal motorcycle for the track enthusiasts. That means, it can only be rolled on a race track and not on public roads.
Use of carbon fibre mainframe, which weights just 7.8kgs, made this bike lightweight, that is 171kgs with a full fuel tank. It is lighter than Superbike World Championship factory racing bikes and heavier than MotoGP factory racers.
The HP4 Race is powered by a 999cc, in-line four-cylinder, liquid-cooled, race spec engine which is mated to a six speed racing transmission with straight cut gears, and generates 215bhp at 13,900rpm and 120Nm of torque at 10,000rpm. The bike can hit a top speed of 330Kmph.
Brakes and suspension are said to be the best in the business. Braking duties are managed byBrembo’s GP4 PR mono block brake calipers with 320 T type racing steel brake discs (6.75mm thick) at the front and Brembo Racing single disc brake at the rear. Ohlins FGR 300 upside down forks at front and Ohlins TTX 36 GP monoshock at the rear are handling suspension jobs.
HP4 Race is loaded with features that you would need on a race track.Features to be highlighted are the carbon fibrefairing , Aluminium WSBK swingarm, complete titanium Akrapovic exhaust, Dynamic traction control: controlled by ignition cut, EBR, which allows the rider to control the amount of engine braking, wheelie control, a pit lane limiter to observe speed limit, anti hopping clutch and launch control.
The BMW HP4 Race is available in only one color option. With the price tag of 85.00 lakh rupees, HP4 Race is a perfect rival for Ducati’s Panigale 1299 Superleggera which is priced at Rupees. 1.12 Cr. As the Globally available limit is just 750, the interested buyers have to be real quick.
