Ducati has been launching their Multistrada series back to back successfully in India for the past couple of years. The previously launched Multistrada 1200 and and 1200 Enduro pro continue to rule the market with their superior riding quality in the segment.
The 2018 Ducati Multistrada 1260 is an updated version of the previously launched Multistradas with a new engine. It is said that the new engine is a twin cylinder based on the XDiavel. The new engine update is limited to this latest launch, while no update is seen on the older Multistrada 1200 or the Enduro pro.
The new Multistrada, as evident from the name itself , gets a 1262cc engine which generates ample power of 158 PS and a 130Nm of torque. Another good news regarding the engine spec is the capability of this engine to generate 85% of the torque at 3500rpm itself which is a boon to tourers who’d like to carry a lot of luggage to the saddle.
The updates also include increased rake angle, a slightly longer swing arm resulting in a longer wheelbase as well which in turn helps in better stability of the bike. The New Multistrada is said to be 10 kg lighter than the Multistrada 1200 which will help the rider in handling the bike slightly better at slow speeds.
The Ducati Multistrada is said to one of among the best touring bikes in the country. With features and accessories being ultra-premium, Ducati definitely knows the needs of the rider really well. The base model of the Multistrada 1260 gets an LCD screen for information whereas the other range of the variants gets a TFT color display.
This Pikes Peak edition is also equipped with adjustable Ohlins suspension at both ends followed by fetching livery, aluminum wheels and a Termignoni exhaust. Some of the key updates of the Multistrada 1260 include the introduction of Two-way quick shifter, 8-level wheelie, cornering ABS, hill hold assist, cruise control and traction control.
The major rivals of the Multistrada 1260 are the BMW R1200 GS and the Triumph Tiger 1200.
