Suzuki Motorcycles launched the 2018 version of their flagship motorcycle Hayabusa, much ahead of the Auto Expo this year. It will however be showcased at the event in the company pavilion. This much awaited bike comes to India as Completely Knocked Down (CKD) units and will be assembled at the company facility at Gurugram.
In 2017, due to the ever increasing demand for the model, Hayabusa turned out to be India’s first Made-in-India big motorcycle from Suzuki. New Hayabusa carries the same price tag of Rs.13.88 lakh (ex-showroom New Delhi) as the 2017 version and is offered in two new colours- Pearl Red/White and Glass Sparkle Black which also receives a dash of red colour on its fairing.
Built on an aluminium twin-spar frame, Suzuki Hayabusa 2018 is lightweight yet tough from within. KYB inverted front forks and rear monoshocks handle suspension duties smooth and efficiently. 310mm front discs and Brembomonobloc calipers at the front and 260mm disc brake at the rear renders the braking power to this iconic motorcycle. ABS comes as standard.
New Hayabusa is powered by the same 1340cc in-line 4-cylinder fuel-injected, liquid-cooled DOHC engine as seen on the outgoing model and produces 197bhp worth power and 155Nm of torque. This engine is coupled to a 6-speed gearbox and propels the vehicle from 0-100kmph in 2.74 seconds. Top speed is at 299kmph and is claimed to be one of the fastest bikes in the current global market.
