Yamaha launched the BS6-compliant version of its popular model, R15 V3.0 in India at a starting price of Rs.1.45 lakh (ex-showroom). The new price makes this model more expensive than the BS4 model by Rs.4400. The company launched its first BS6-compliant model a month ago, the FZ and the FZ-S.
New Yamaha YZF R15 V3 BS6 is about 3kg heavier than the BS4 version. The 155cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine on the BS4 version generates a 19.3bhp at 10,000rpm and 14.7Nm at 8500rpm, while the new BS6 switch has made the power drop by a bit, making the new figures 18.6bhp and 141Nm. The motor comes bonded to a 6-speed transmission.
The Yamaha R15 BS6 is equipped with a side-stand engine cut-off switch, dual horn and radial tubeless tyre for the rear wheel. Telescopic forks at the front and a rear monoshock unit for suspension dual disc brakes with dual-channel ABS for braking has been carried forward to the new version.
The upgraded motorcycle will be available in three colour options - Racing Blue, Thunder Grey and Darknight. The price will vary across colour options while the specs and features will continue to be the same as on the old one.
The Racing Blue variant of R15 BS6 is priced at Rs.1.46 lakh and the Thunder Grey is offered at Rs.1.45 lakh while the top spec Darknight variant is priced at Rs 1.47 lakh. The Racing Blue variant comes with blue-coloured wheels which is similar to the ones sold in Indonesia and other Asian markets.
