The new 2019 Toyota Camry Hybrid is launched in India at an introductory price of Rs.36.95 lakh and is cheaper than the price of its predecessor priced at Rs.37.38 lakh.
The new Toyota Camry follows Toyota’s new Design philosophy that features big air dam vents in the front with sleeker headlights while its character lines flow all over the body to the tail lights at the rear. This new sedan looks bolder and appealing than its predecessor. Updated Camry underpins the TNGA(Toyota New Global Architecture) platform that accentuates the car dynamics with a low center of gravity.
This new iteration gets a 2.5L petrol motor that lets out 218bhp when combined with the 120hp hybrid electric motor. The petrol motor alone produces a power of 178bhp and 218Nm of torque. The hybrid motor along with the improved chassis makes this car more fuel efficient by running upto 23.27kms for a litre of petrol.
On the feature list, it claims a plethora of elements on offer for comfort including rear electrically reclining seats and electrically operated rear sun blinds. It also gets a nine speaker music system by JBL to complement the drive along with a 10 inch infotainment system. The dashboard appears inclined towards the driver to enhance the sporty feel. Safety features include nine air bags and ABS with EBD braking.
2019 Camry and Accord are the only Hybrid engine cars on offer in this segment where the Skoda Superb and Volkswagen Passat are being retailed at a cheaper price tag with no hybrid option to claim. It has to be noted that unfortunately, Accord Hybrid has not sold any units in 2018. Whether Camry will makea smooth sail or not is hard to predict, as customers within this price budget apparently prefer German engineered luxury cars.
