Porsche India launched the eighth generation 911 Carrera S and Carrera S Cabriolet in the country at Rs.1.82 Crore and Rs.1.99Crore respectively (Ex-showroom India). This eighth generation model replaces the 991 series, which was in production between 2011 and 2018. The new model forms part of the new 992 series.
Based on the new modular MMB Platform, which uses generous amounts of aluminium on the body, the weight of the cars have been evenly distributed. Porsche has given minor updates on these models for that whiff of freshness. Apart from that, the overall silhouette remains the same.
The new version of 911 Carrera appears 45mm wider than the predecessor. Updated bumper, with new splitter and air vents, slim LED headlamps on the bumper, longer bonnet, LED matrix headlamps, large rear spoiler and OLED tail lights are some notable changes. The newcomer, sits on 20 inch wheels at the front and 21 inch wheels at the rear, with large wheel arches that altogether accentuates the muscular look of this model.
Inside the cabin, elements of modern technology combines with classic design to provide an entirely different an uncomparable experience. The center console holds a 10.9 inch touch screen infotainment system enabled with Porsche communication management functionality. There is an option to select the drive mode on the steering wheel. The analogue central tachometer highlights the heritage feel inside the car.
New 911 Carrera S is powered by a 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged petrol engine that churns out 444bhp of power and 530Nm of torque. The power output is 30bhp more than the predecessor. The engine is mated to a new eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The Carrera S can reach a top speed of 308kmph.
Safety features include an emergency braking system, wet driving mode, night vision and adaptive cruise control.
