Indian Auto market witnessed the launch of two affordable sports cars back to back this week. Aston Martin Vantage was launched at a price of Rs.2.95 crore while Ferrari Portofino was launched at Rs.3.50 crore in the country.
Aston Martin Vantage:
Aston Martin Vantage that reached the global market last year comes to India now with just 20 units of this model available for sale. However, more units may be made available depending on the demand from more customers. Bookings have already begun for this model at the Mumbai and Bengaluru dealerships by Infiniti Cars. Deliveries are expected to begin only by the next year beginning. The base price of 2.95 crore added with taxes is expected to amount to Rs.3.30 crore.
The design language of Vantage is basically derived from the Vulcan and DB11 but sports new front and rear subframes. The glossy black signature grille blends beautifully to the bumper while the sleek LED headlamps. Built on the brand’s next generation platform with bonded aluminium underframe, the new Aston Martin Vantage claims to be the first vehicle to receive an electronic rear differential.
Interiors get multifunctional steering wheel and upholstery that matches the sports theme associated with the model. The centre console holds the control for suspension, engine and traction functions while an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system adds more grandeur to the cabin with tons of other features. The cabin has more headroom as compared to its predecessors. Three riding modes are offered on the model with adjustable suspension on each.
Aston Martin Vantage coupe is equipped with a 4L twin turbo V8 engine derived from the Merc AMG GT-R that produces 503bhp and 695Nm of torque, being paired to an 8-speed transmission sourced from ZF with paddle shifters. This model receives a stability control system to vary torque output. New Vantage sprints from 0-100kmph in less than 3.5 seconds with a top speed of 315kmph.
Ferrari Portofino, the latest offering from the sports car maker replaces the turbocharged California T from the lineup. Like the Aston Martin Vintage, this model too was launched last year in the International arena as part of the company’s 70th year celebrations.
Portofino is a hard-top convertible and carries a design quite similar to the model it replaces with. However, LED headlamps at the end of its long bonnet and wide smiling grille makes the new model appear more ravishing than the California T. Built on an all-new rigid chassis, Ferrari Portofino is tad lighter too.
Powered by the same 3.9L twin turbo V8 as seen on its predecessor, this time it has been fine tuned to produce more power and torque. The engine that is paired to a 7-speed dual clutch F1 transmission, it makes 600bhp and 760Nm of peak torque.
Interiors sport a massive 10.2 inch touchscreen infotainment system compatible with Apple Carplay, steering wheel resembling that of a racer car with full controls, 5-inch TFT instrument cluster, 18-way electrically adjustable seats, improved legroom with back rest at the rear seats, new designed wind deflector to cut the noise and airflow by almost 30% than the California T, super premium plush leather seats and so on.
Ferrari Portofino sprints from 0-100kmph in just 3.5 seconds and attains a top speed of 320kmph. This new model is available for sale at the Delhi and Mumbai showrooms.
Both these above mentioned cars come as affordable models from their respective brands.
