BMW has launched its much awaited third generation BMW X3 in India starting at Rs.49.99 lakh for (xDrive 20d Expedition) for the expedition variant and Rs.56.70 lakh (xDrive 20d Luxury Line) for the luxury line. The X3 is among the most promising models in the SUV lineup of BMW. The company’s plant at Chennai, where the 20th anniversary was celebrated, reportedly has already begun manufacture and assembly of the new generation X3.
On the exteriors, the new X3 has updated on a lot of equipment that includes a larger kidney grille followed by separated headlamp clusters, revamped L-shaped tail lamps, horizontal LED fog lamps, bigger spoiler, redesigned front and rear bumpers etc. However, the overall design is quite similar to the previous generation.
The new BMW X3 gets a well updated interior with a new dashboard. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come as standard compatible to the 6th generation iDrive infotainment system that is also one of the most important update in this new SUV. The system gets gesture control option too along with ambient lighting and quite a lot of exciting features. The X3 also gets Harmon Kardon 600 watt audio system along with a host of other features that include adaptive suspension, differential brakes, BMW ConnectedDrive, cornering brake control, electronic vehicle immobilizer, Dynamic Traction Control and so on.
The new X3 comes with the same 2.0-Litre diesel engine making 190 BHP and 400 Nm of torque for that extra push. All wheel drive, primarily referred to as xDrive comes as standard. The Engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. Adding to more information during the launch, BMW has confirmed that the petrol version of the SUV will be launched shortly.
Comparatively, there’s been a significant weight reduction by about 55kg in the new X3. In terms of dimensions, it gets a bigger boot space and the wheelbase has been increased by 55mm thereby offering more space for the passengers.
The BMW X3 competes with a number of other premium SUVs including the Audi Q5, Volvo XC60, Mercedes Benz GLC and Land Rover Discovery Sport. Bookings commenced few days ago, and the company stated that the deliveries will begin shortly.
