BMW India had discontinued their Z4 model back in September 2016. After almost three years now, the brand has brought it back to the country, this time in a new avatar. Z4 that has been retailing in the international markets is now launched in India at a starting price of Rs.64.90 lakh (Ex-Showroom India).
The new generation Z4 Roadster will be available in two variants- sDrive20i and M40i. The engine has been sourced from Toyota’s development facility as part of the collaboration with the brand. The top spec variant M40i holds a price tag of Rs.78.90 Lakh (Ex Showroom India). The sDrive20i gets a 2.0-litre in-line four cylinder turbo engine that generates 200bhp worth power and 320Nm of peak torque. The company claimed mileage on this variant is 14.37kmpl with a top speed of 240Kmph. At the same time the top spec M40i gets power from an in-line six cylinder twin-turbo motor that churns out 345bhp and 500Nm of torque. The claimed mileage on this variant is 12.82Kmpl.
2019 BMW Z4 Roadster flaunts a comparatively long bonnet with a classic soft top, which can open up in less than 10 seconds. This convertible model gets a wide signature kidney grille and vertically aligned LED headlamps at the front. The large air intakes enhances the sportiness of this model. Coming to the rear portion, this new model gets a distinctive rear spoiler, slim LED tail lights, exhaust tail pipes etc.
Interiors follow the same theme that are seen inside other recently launched models from the BMW stable. The cabin gets leather interior with blue contrast stitching and blue piping. Driver seat memory function, additional storage space behind the seats, large cup holders and big door pockets etc. are some notable features inside the cabin. M40i variant gets 364 watt Harman Kardon system and a HUD.
The base version sDrive20i comes with BMW's Sportline exterior design package at the same time the M40i variant comes with BMW's M Package that includes the exterior M badging, M Aerodynamics package, gloss black shadow line finish, door sill finishers and M leather steering.
Rear collison warning, emergency braking, pedestrian detection, lane departure warning and cross traffic alert etc are other featured included in the new Z4 Roadster. The model will reach India as CBU units for which bookings are open in the company dealerships across the country.
