Audi launched special design editions of Audi Q3 and Q7 in India at Rs.40.76 lakh and Rs.82.37 lakh respectively. The new design editions get cosmetic tweaks on the exteriors while their interiors receive additional equipment
The design edition of Q3 is available only in the 35TDI variant and positions itself comfortably between Premium Plus and Technology trims. Hence all features available on the Premium Plus variant is seen on this edition including 18-inch alloy wheels, Audi’s MMI infotainment system and power adjustable front row seats and so on. Other features that enhance the Design edition of Q3 are rear crystal clear tail lamp, Quattro entry lights, key cover matching car body color, Nappa leather upholstery and a coat hanger.
Like the 35TDI models, the Q3 design edition is powered by a 2L four cylinder, turbo diesel engine which generates 184bhp and 380Nm of peak torque. Power is sent to all the four wheels through a seven speed automatic transmission. The company claims a fuel efficiency of 15.17kmpl on this model.
Positioned between the Premium Plus and Technology trims as the Q3, the design edition of Q7 however comes in two variants- 40TFSI and 45TDI. The 40TFSI variant is powered by a 2L Quattro engine that generates 252bhp and 370Nm of torque while the 45TDI variant derives power from a 3L Quattro engine which produces 249bhp and 600Nm of torque. Both engines are mated to an eight speed automatic gearbox.
Design edition of Q7 receives all features on the Premium Plus trim that includes Matrix LED headlamps, 19-inch alloy wheels, panoramic sunroof, Audi’s MMI Infotainment and so on. Added features of Design edition Q7 are an Audi branded cool bag, a rear seat entertainment, Audi logo on the D-Pillar and a dark tinted tail lamps etc.
Launch of Design editions are expected to improve the sales figures of respective SUVs. Q3 takes the likes of Mercedes GLA, BMW X1 and Volvo XC40 while Q7 competes with Mercedes GLS, BMW X5 and Volvo’s XC90.
