There are many subcompact SUVs lined up for launch this year. Jeep too joins the bandwagon and has now introduced an affordable new Automatic variant in the mid-spec trimof Compass priced at Rs.18.9 lakh (ex-showroom) to boost its sales.
Jeep compass has been selling in good numbers since its launch in India. This brand that has earned good reputation worldwide with its SUV models entered into India in 2016. Later the company launched a Made in India modelCompass,that attracted many car lovers in India due to its premium badging and posh interiors at affordable price. Now to catch up with the tough competition in this segment of vehicles, they have now introduced a more affordable automatic trim in its mid trim the Longitude(O). This makes it the cheapest automatic variant in the Jeep portfolio in India.
Before this the petrol automatic which was a 7-speed dual clutch unit was only available in the Top trims. This new variant is cheaper than the former by Rs.1.07 lakh. Previously Longitude(O) was available only with a 2.0L diesel engine producing 170bhp which was mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox.
Priced atRs.18.90 lakh,Longitude(O) mode comes with a 1.4L turbocharged petrol engine coupled with a dual clutch auto gearbox. Other features include 7-inch UConnect infotainment systemthat is compatible with Android Auto and Apple Carplay connectivity, Auto AC and Projector headlamps, although it misses out some basic feature like the rear parking camera. The mid variant update fails to have premium features like leather upholstery and panoramic sunroof.
There is an evergrowing competition in this compact SUV segment with Tata’s upcoming Harrier and MG’s upcoming Hector which will be soon launched In India.
