India’s own SUV maker Mahindra & Mahindra has launched Marazzo, an MPV (Multi-Purpose Vehicle) to take on the rivalry of leading vehicles in the market like Toyota Innova Crysta, Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and Tata Hexa. The 7 seater/8-seater vehicle is offered in four variants with introductory prices ranging between Rs.9.9 lakh and Rs.13.90 lakh (Ex-showroom Delhi) for which bookings have already begun.
Mahindra introduces Marazzo, its flagship model in the country as the first of the three launches promised by the company in this year. Built entirely on a new platform, the vehicle is designed and developed by the company’s team in India, US and Italy.
Marazzo means shark in Spanish and that explains the shark theme seen all over the vehicle. Be it the shark inspired grille upfront with eye shaped fog lamps or the shark tail resembling tail lamps at the rear, the new MPV has striking features to resemble the aggressiveness of a shark. Other features on the exterior include LED daytime running lights, double barrel headlamps, massive ORVM (Outside Rear View Mirror) and so on.
Interiors are arranged in both 7-seater and 8-seater configuration where 7-seaters get split seats in the middle row while 8-seaters get foldable bench seat. Different variants are provided with various features that include three row ac vents, roof antenna, rear parking sensors and camera, driver seat height adjustable function, rear wiper and many more depending on the variant chosen. Top spec variant M8 gets 17 inch alloy wheels, infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple Carplay compatibility, cruise control and many more interesting upmarket features.
Mahindra Marazzo is equipped with a 1.5litre four cylinder turbo-diesel engine that produces 121bhp and 300Nm of peak torque. Power is sent to the front wheels by a six-speed manual transmission. As of now, the new MPV is available only in a diesel trim with manual gears, while its competitors have both petrol and diesel variants. However, the company announced it plans to launch Marazzowith petrol engine and AMT by 2020. The new utility vehicle returns a fuel efficiency of 17.6kmpl.
