Today morning, Business India woke up with a breaking news ; Maruti Suzuki having set new record for its rocket sales figures in the month of July 2016. The automobile pioneers managed to make a whopping sales of 1,25,778 vehicles in India and 1,37,116 vehicles along with exports in last month. The company which had been a little disappointed with a 10% fall in sales in June 2016 is celebrating this revival. Product wise sales figures point out that the entry of new models have majorly contributed to the recovery.
While this news had been making rounds in the media , Maruti Suzuki came up with another. The company decided to hike prices of most vehicles by around Rs. 20000 with Vitara Brezza being the maximum hiked one. Next in line is the Baleno hatchback which went up by 10000. These two being the best selling vehicles in the market now, the company has played it well at the right time. This is the fourth price hike by the company in last one year . The company addressed the media saying that the Brezza hike was impending as they had launched the SUV at an introductory price which they had earlier informed during the launch. In January they had stated that the infrastructure cess imposed by the government was one of the reason behind the hike. This time they blamed it on the rising costs and the forex movement for the hike that they were forced to make this decision again this year.
Reports are that other manufacturers too are expected to hike prices which isn't a good news for the customers anyhow.
