The entry of the Maserati Ghibli dates back to 2014 and was then introduced in the midsize luxury sedan segment. The 2014 Ghibli was offered with a turbocharged Six-cylinder engine satisfying both luxury and performance equally. The latest, 2018 Ghibli gets a little cosmetic adjustment from Maserati which is appealing in all its senses.
Under the hood, all variants of the Ghibli come with a turbocharged 3-litre six-cylinder engine. However, the variation in power output is noticeable. The Ghibli makes around 275PS and 600 Nm of torque at 2,000 and 2,600 rpm respectively. The sedan can clock 0-100kmph in 6.3 seconds and can attain a top speed of 250 Kmph. The Ghibli gets itself tagged as a grand tourer because of the massive 70-litre fuel tank with a range of 1,000 kms.
The styling of the car has been done keeping in mind the traditional Maserati design.The new Ghibli gets the iconic Maserati grille dipped in chrome. More chrome inserts can be seen on the bumper vents as well.The GrandLusso variant of the Ghibli is updated with features like Full-LED headlights with glare-free matrix high beam. The GranLusso also features the new ADAS- Active Driver Assistance System. The company claims that the new design updates have significantly led to greater improvements in terms of aerodynamic efficiency thereby reducing the drag coefficient by up to 0.29.
For a comfortable driving experience, the new Ghibli comes with EPS- Electric Power Steering, as standard. The Skyhook suspension system is also an additional standard option on the 2018 Ghibli. Features such as the IVC- Integrated Vehicle Control System has been introduced in order to prevent vehicle instability, improved driving dynamics, active safety and better performance. Three variants- base, GranLusso and the GrandSport of the ghibli are treated unique in terms of their interiors. The interiors of the GranLusso gets more of luxurious silk upholstery while the GrandSport gets rather sporty looks from both exterior and interior of the vehicle. Maserati gives its customers the option of customization with options that include wheels, headliner material, stitching and upholstery.
The 2018 Ghibli is priced at Rs 1.33-1.44 Crores (ex-showroom). Looking at the price range and the generous luxury features in the new Maserati Ghibli, it is likely that this vehicle might shake grounds of Luxury sedans like the Audi A8, BMW 7 Series, Mercedes S-Class. In terms of price, the Ghibli also matches the likes of Luxury SUVs like the BMW X6, Toyota Land Cruiser, Range Rover Sport and the Porche Cayenne GTS.
