Last month, Mercedes Benz launched two limited edition hatchbacks, fondly named as the Night Edition of the A-class and B-class in India. The luxury carmaker that launched almost 16 models in 2016 seems to have more surprises in 2017. Both the A-class and B-class night editions are limited to just 100 units each. Targeting the younger generation in particular, both these cars are available in two variants each with cosmetic touches for a sportier appeal.
The cars have been given dashes of gloss black on its exteriors to highlight the essence of a night edition. The outside rear view mirrors (ORVM), the front diamond radiator grille and the 17-inch alloy wheels get a black finish that enhances the sporty looks of the hatchbacks. The ‘Night Edition’ badge keeps it distinct from other models.
A 180 (Petrol variant of A-class) is priced at Rs.27.31 lakh and A 200d (Diesel variant of A-class) is priced at Rs.28.32 lakh-both ex-showroom prices, Pune. B 180 (Petrol variant of B-class) is priced at Rs.29.34 lakh while B 200d (Diesel variant of B-class) is priced at Rs.30.35 lakh-both ex-showroom prices, Pune.
Both the petrol variants of these cars are charged with a 1.6L petrol engine that produces power worth 121bhp and peak torque of 200Nm. The Diesel variants on the other hand are powered by a 2143cc four cylinder engine that produces 134bhp and 300Nm of peak torque. All engines are coupled to a 7-speed Dual Clutch Automatic transmission. The Interiors are revamped with enhanced comfort features like the multifunctional steering wheel and the gear shift lever wrapped in leather. The fabric seats gets cushion length adjustment and contrast top stitching that provide superior sporty looks. The 8-inch touch screen infotainment system is larger than the previous models and comes with smartphone integration through Apple Carplay and Android Auto.
