Mercedes-Benz India launched the GLS Grand Editions of GLS 400 and GLS 350d recently in Petrol and Diesel variants respectively. Apparently, both these trims are priced at Rs.86.90 lakh each (Ex-showroom) that is, four lakhs costlier than the outgoing version.
The GLS 350d Grand Edition comes with a 3litre V6 diesel engine churning out 258 bhp and 620Nm of torque whereas the GLS 400 produces 333 bhp and 480Nm of torque with the same 3 litre V6 petrol engine. Both the engines are mated with a 9G-Tronic (nine speed) automatic gearbox. The Mercedes 4Matic all-wheel drive System and AIRMATICS suspension system come as standard features on these SUVs. The GLS 350d and GLS 400 sprints from 0 to 100kmph in 7.8 seconds and 6.6 seconds respectively.
The GLS is designed with a number of new features on the exterior including10 spoke 20-inch alloy wheels, automatic LED headlamps with black surround, Grand edition badges and prominent chrome finished fins on the bonnet to give an SUV styling.
The interior also gets few cosmetic upgrades which are indeed a delight to look at. Be it the Nappa leather wrapped heated 3-spoke multifunctional steering accompanied by paddle shifters, the Nappa leather airbag cover and 12 function keys. The redesigned instrument panel is an eye catching portion with a semi integrated color screen. The rear seat entertainment system which was previously an option comes as standard with the new GLS Grand Edition. The two 7 inch high definition touch screens for infotainment system and other functions are compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Not compromising on safety features, Mercedes has loaded the GLS seven seaters with safety features that include three point safety belts on all seats, brake assist, electronic all-wheel-drive traction system, cruise control, two-stage airbags for the front seats, side bags for front row and middle row, and window bags for all seats.
With all these exciting features and stylish looks, the Mercedes Benz GLS Grand Edition locks horns with the BMW X5, AUDI Q7, PORSCHE Cayenne and the Range Rover.
The Mercedes Benz India also offers service packages for the GLS 350d and GLS 400 starting from Rs.75,000 to Rs.1,04,000 with unlimited mileage covering maintenance related jobs lasting upto 10 years from the date of sale.
