Tata motors launches Tiago with an overwhelming response of over lakh enquiries
The launch of Tata Tiago met with a massive response in Bengaluru recently. Ever since the car was unveiled two months back at the Auto Expo 2016, it has been making news in the market. The name was initially Zica which the company later changed to Tiago due to its resemblance to the deadly Zika virus that had been making rounds globally. Tata motors known for its wide range of vehicles in almost every segment has now officially stated that Tiago would belong to the hatchback mid segment cars.
The city car is available in both petrol and diesel variants with a waiting period of less than 2 months. The Petrol variant is charged with a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder Revotron engine whereas the Diesel variant comes powered with a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder Revotorq, both mated to 5 speed manual transmission with an impressively fuel efficiency at 23kmpl on petrol and 27 kmpl on diesel.
Nakul Gupta, Regional manager South-1 (Passenger Vehicle Business Unit) of Tata Motors claimed that the company hasn't compromised in quality even though the pricing has been cut down challenging its rivals in the market. With base prices of 3.32 lakh on the petrol variant and 4.08 lakh on the diesel variant, it is no wonder that there was an overwhelming response of over 1 lakh enquiries after its launch in the garden city.
This cool car is available in six peppy colours to choose from. Tiago supposedly seem to target the youth with its sporty yet sleek styling and few exciting first-in-segment features like the turn by turn navigation system and the Juke car app as part of the infotainment system. Another astounding feature is that the huge boot capacity is unmatchable with any other cars in its segment. Decent legroom and cabin space add more sparkle to Tiago.
Company officials haven't yet revealed the actual booking figures but have clearly said that the competitive prices are only for a short while after which it is likely to go up.
