After seven long years, Toyota Fortuner was launched in a new avatar in the country on November 7, 2016 at a starting price of Rs.25.92 lakh ranging to 31.12 lakh for the top end variant. After the launch of Innova Crysta, Toyota Kirloskar Motor did not take much time to launch its second product, the much awaited New Fortuner. The new faced seven seater SUV is here with plenty of updates, on its interiors as well as exteriors.
Built on the TNGA platform, the All New Fortuner appears leaner, yet sturdier contributing to improved driveability and better performance. The second gen model has been elongated by around 90mm than its predecessor. On its exterior, this SUV gets a new twin slat grille that extends hands to the projector headlamps on either sides below which lies the newly designed fog lamps with day time running lights. In spite of the shoulder lines and the flared wheel arches that add strong character to the New Fortuner, it looks sleek and elegant in appearance. At the rear, the electric tailgate comes with a memory function and a safety mechanism which sense the passengers while closing to avoid any injury.
Interiors include world class leather upholstery, huge cabin space and extravagant features that include an 8 inch touchscreen infotainment system on the dashboard, an all-new instrument cluster with TFT screen and audio controls on the steering wheel with smart phone integration, Bluetooth system and navigation. Electrically adjustable mirrors and Smart key entry with engine start/stop function add to the richness of this feature loaded SUV.
Safety features include seven airbags; ABS with EBD, hill ascent/descent controls, reverse camera, emergency stop signal and a lot more that lets you have a peaceful trip no matter whichever terrain you are travelling through.
New Toyota Fortuner is available in both Petrol and Diesel trims. Petrol trim is loaded with a 2.7L 4 cylinder engine as Innova Crysta and delivers power of 166bhp against 275Nm of torque while the Diesel variant is fitted with a 2.8L GD engine that spits out 177bhp against 360Nm of torque.
