KWIDwas first launched in the market in the year 2015 by the French Carmaker Renault, after being showcased at the Auto Expo 2014. The model had an identity of its own; a small car with an SUV stance was not an easy task for sure. The butch and boxy design it incorporated, seemed a little weird for some, but majority approved and soon after its launch, this model seemed to be producing record sales in the market. This was a major catalyst for Renault, that had remained dull for sometime after the whopping success of Duster.
KWID, the little urban car that captured hearts had not received an update for a long time, precisely since its launch. And now, yes, the flagship small car from Renault has gone through a major update and here it is, in an all new style, design and an even more upright stance.
Renault revealed the facelift edition of KWID at a starting price of Rs.2.83 lakh. Let us take a look at what are the key changes spotted on the specs and features of this updated model.
The updated KWID has very little cosmetic updates on the exteriors; the design takes all the attention instead. The design changes include a taller SUV stance with an all-new front fascia. Silver streak LED DRL and a bumper-mounted headlamp assembly unit, along with dual-tone bumper adds to the sporty look. The new KWID comes with blacked-out wheel arches that give it an even more SUVish feel. The new car gets first in class stylish new tail lamp with LED guide light and SUV styled headlamps. The boot space promises a capacity of 279 litres, that is further expandable to 620 litres.
Inside the cabin, the all-new KWID gets dual tone interiors with black and orange combination. The car gets Sporty orange and white fabric with stripes on the upholstery and a stylish new 20.32cm MediaNav Evolution touchscreen infotainment system that supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay as key features. It also features dual airbag as opposed to the single airbag in the earlier version.
The ergonomically designed cabin gets a brand-new LED digital instrumentation console too adding to the sportiness. The aesthetically designed digital panel features an RPM gauge and fuel and temperature gauge, while the floor console mounted AMT dial looks outstanding. Yes, you read that right. The AMT knob has been shifted from the front console and placed on the section that houses the gear level. Cabin has ample space compared to the older version with mobile storage too. Rear armrest has been provided on the model that adds more convenience to the rear passengers.
The all-new KWID measures 1579mm in width, 3731mm in length and 1474mm in height with a wheelbase of 2422 mm. It rides on 14-inch wheels of 165/70 section and has a ground clearance of 184mm. It comes with a seating capacity of 5 and a fuel tank capacity of 28 litres.

Furthermore, the 999cc DOHC petrol mill churns 69PS of peak power at 5500rpm and offers 91Nm of torque at 4250rpm; this engine is available in both AMT and MT options.
