Trending bike news The two new electric scooters from Hero Electric are Nyx ER and Optima ER. The abbreviations ER stands for extended range. The new models have a range of 100km on a single charge. This improved range is achieved by double batteries. It only takes 4 hours to fully charge the battery of these electric scooters.

The optima ER comes at Rs.68721 and its sibling costs Rs.69754. Both the prices are ex-showroom prices in India which is applicable everywhere in India except the North-Eastern states. In the North-Eastern part of the country, the optima ER cause Rs.2822 more than the other states while the optima will cost a premium of Rs.2812.

Although the performance is the same between the two newcomers, they differ in styling. Both the new scooters share their visual scheme with their lighter siblings Nyx E5 and Optima E5. The Hero Optima E5 is available in 3 colours - Cyan, Matte Red, and Matte Grey whereas the Hero Electric Optima E5 is available in two colours - Black and Grey. The same colour scheme is expected for the new extended-range variants.

The Optima series features a single seat. The Nyx has a split seat setup in which the pillion seat can be folded. A telescopic suspension is a standard across these series.

Hero Electric manufacturing facility is located at Ludhiana in the state of Punjab. The facility was established in 2007. The company has a presence in more than 25 states with its 500+ dealerships. The company plans to expand the dealership network further to provide better customer service.

Rivals for this 1200cc bike in India are Ducati Monster 1200, Triumph Bonneville T120, Moto Guzzi Audace, Ducati Diavel 1260.
