Trending car news After the news about upcoming SUV Harrier, yet another one from Tata has caught headlines. Tata Nexon secured 5 stars in Global NCAP crash test.

Tata Nexon is based on the X1 platform which was developed for the second generation Indica exported to Europe at that time. This robust platform had helped Nexon score a solid 4 star rating in safety during the last year’s crash test. The compact SUV had provided good safety for head and neck of the driver and passengers with adequate chest safety as well. This year, the same car managed to score five star rating for providing best safety to adult occupants and 3 star rating in the same for child occupants.

Tata Nexon is a compact SUV which rivals against the segment’s best sellers Vitara Brezza as it comes loaded with a host of features. All variants of Nexon are provided with ABS and two airbags as standard.

David Ward, Secretary General at Global NCAP, stated that this test result will be a huge landmark for them having achieved India’s first five-star rating for adult occupant protection. The Nexon was engineered in India and this shows the huge capability of the domestic industry to achieve excellence in safety design and performance. Tata has shown the global car industry that to achieve five stars rating, others can start over by introducing models that are 'Made in India'.

Anand Mahindra, who is Tata’s rival in Indian commercial vehicle market and also one of the leading automaker wished Ratan Tata for the achievement.
