The base variant is powered by a 1461cc 4 cylinder in-line CRDI engine while coupled to a 6-speed manual transmission system generates a maximum torque of 240Nm @ 1750rpm and a peak power output of 110PS (80.9kW) @ 3850rpm. The variant is equipped with a two-wheel drive train.
Being the entry-level variant, the model lacks the 8-inch A-IVI infotainment system. The users have to settle for the integrated 2 DIN audio system. The manufacturer has cut down several features such as cruise control, push-button start, keyless entry, automatic headlamps, rain-sensing wiper, etc to reduce the cost.
The exterior makes the base variant distinguishable from the higher-spec variants with halogen lamps, steel wheels, lack of skid plate and lack of roof rail.
The new Nissan kicks variant comes with black coloured fabric seats, gear shift knob with chrome finish, 6-way manually adjustable driver seat. However, the rear seat armrest with cup holders is missing.
In the safety department, the SUV variant is equipped with ABS with EBD and BA, rear defogger, rear parking sensors, etc. But, it lacks important safety features such as side airbags, a rearview camera, and Hill Start Assist Control.
The new Nissan Kicks offers an SUV experience at a cheaper price and reduced safety features. Renault Duster

, Ford Ecosport
